Perspective Media Group

Workflow and Automation

Critical to both optimizing an organization and considering how to integrate new capabilities is understanding how an organization works today as well as what is possible for them in the future with highly optimized and automated workflow. Our services around current and future state workflow definition allow an organization to quickly and clearly articulate where they are with the current workflow, where they want to be and how to optimally get there.  We help you:

-  Capture Current State Workflow
-  Define an Optimized Future State Workflow, and
-  Manage Change, Organizational Evolution and Governance

Current and Future State Workflow

Current State Workflow

Understanding the business and operational needs combined with understanding how a facility operates today are the first steps in determining how to optimize it in the future. As media flows through a facility it moves through many hands, applications, locations and systems. We work with you to outline how the media and associated metadata moves through your facility - denoting who and what interacts with it at any given time - whether in content acquisition, creation and post-production, scheduling and origination or library management to name a few.
The output includes a description of how media and metadata flows through a facility within and between the different business areas and across different systems and information pools. Our unique approach to capturing workflow outlines the paths through which the media flows and captures the people and their roles, systems and applications used at each point in the media’s progression through a facility. This quick and proven approach to outlining and documenting current state workflow delivers fast and verifiable workflow definitions that provide immediate insights to business and operational groups alike.
Additionally, these sessions help deliver a common language for stakeholders and a common understanding of what occurs today, what is possible and what is needed.

Future State Workflow

The future state workflow is focused on streamlining and optimizing your supply chain - often integrating operational islands to deliver optimized multi-platform, multi-screen workflow from content acquisition into post-production and out to distribution.
Using our proven approach with you we evaluate your workflow and identify areas of optimization, considering areas to automate and streamline activities or shifting activities all together. After defining and documenting the future state workflow, we work with you to determine the best approach to implement the workflow in order to see near-term and long-term benefits.

Workflow Optimization and Automation

A Workflow Optimization and Automation Requirements Definition outlines the requirements to be achieved through the future state workflow, defining them at the right level to determine feasibility of buying and/or building the needed solution. This includes outlining the functional requirements, process models, object/information models and integration requirements at a level needed to determine feasibility and determine next steps.
Perspective Media Group uses its own proven methodology combined with UML modeling techniques to define requirements at appropriate level to consider feasibility including consideration for buy vs. build.
Regardless of the decision to buy vs. build, Perspective Media Group can then assist you in quickly moving forward. Considering a 'buy' decision, next steps include vendor identification, RFP development and review, and vendor selection. If the choice is made to build a solution, we support you in your detailed requirements analysis definition with business and operational staff in order to provide appropriate requirements to software and systems engineering teams.
For further information on these areas see Requirements Analysis Support and the Candidate Vendor Identification descriptions

Change Management and Organizational Evolution

Regarding the softer components of a future facility, we understand the implications on an organization of the changing roles and skills required to define, design, deploy and operate a next generation facility with its optimized supply chains. As part of defining a next generation optimized supply chain, and it supporting operational and technology roadmaps, we recommend completing a “roles-based view”. This view can help an organization manage its transition and reduce risk by helping to define the organizational skills requirements, training and organizational planning and migration needs early on to support both the media supply chain with its automation and the underlying software driven technology and its integration.

Success also requires effective change management including defined best practices and governance supporting not only evolution, but also the reinvention that occurs when you deliver an optimized and integrated next generation media supply chain. Best practices, agreed upon (and governed) models (schemas, ontologies, etc.), integration standards and requirements (for information and media) as well as the underlying operational capabilities and technology implications must all be considered and managed as part of your overall Strategic Operational and Technology Roadmaps for your optimized media supply chain.
